The Barlee Gold Project is a large-scale gold exploration project located in Western Australia, within the Marda–Evanston Greenstone Belt, a region that has historically produced more than 2Moz of gold.
Covering approximately 300km², the Project provides First Au with exposure to an underexplored greenstone belt with demonstrated gold endowment.
Historical exploration has been limited due to extensive transported cover and salt lake sediments, which obscure much of the underlying geology.
~260 km north of the Southern Cross Goldfield
The Barlee Project is located in the northern portion of the Marda–Evanston Greenstone Belt, immediately north of the Evanston Gold Camp and Gwendolyn Mining Centre.
The Project is surrounded by tenure that has been explored and mined by other operators within the region.
Geology & Exploration Results
Aircore drilling completed in 2021 identified anomalous gold, nickel and lithium–tin geochemistry across the Project.
Reported anomalism includes:
• Gold anomalism in BIF and mafic lithologies
• Nickel anomalism of up to 0.6% Ni associated with ultramafic rocks
• Lithium–tin–rubidium anomalism within granitic units
The Project is prospective for Archean orogenic gold mineralisation, typical of deposits within the Yilgarn Craton.
Geological interpretation indicates the presence of a tonalite intrusion interacting with greenstone sequences, a setting recognised as favourable for mineralisation, with evidence of regional alteration and deformation observed in drilling.
Project Advantages
• Large landholding of approximately 300km²
• Located within a belt that has produced >2Moz of gold
• Limited historical exploration due to transported cover
• Identified multi-commodity anomalism across gold, nickel and lithium systems
